Occupational Therapy
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy is a holistic service that works with an individual or group of individuals that have physical, cognitive, communication, psycho-emotional and/or spiritual limitation preventing them from engaging in their meaningful activities of normal living. Occupational Therapists are regulated Healthcare Professionals trained to assess how an individual’s limitations impact their ability to carry out their self-care (bathing, dressing, eating, grooming), housekeeping (meal preparation, cleaning, home maintenance), childcare, leisure, productive (work, volunteer, school) and community based activities (driving, grocery shopping, banking). Occupational Therapists aim to work with the client’s abilities and provide techniques to remediate or accommodate for limitations through task modification to enable the client to engage in their meaningful activities.
